The team read picture books with the students, including Boxes for Katje, Look at You! Look at the Mess You Made!, and The Streets Are Free. Through these stories, the volunteers introduced the concepts of SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), further conveying the core concepts of caring for the people and environment around us, cherishing what we have, and bravely expressing gratitude.
Following the story-sharing sessions, the volunteers guided students to turn their reflections into concrete actions. First and third graders expressed their appreciation to people they wished to thank and to their classmates through drawings and cards. Second graders illustrated how they would respond if their own living environment became messy, helping them cultivate a sense of environmental responsibility. Meanwhile, fourth graders engaged in group brainstorming to explore the varying needs of teachers and students regarding campus spaces, thereby fostering empathy and perspective-taking. Lastly, fifth graders wrote letters filled with blessings to their future selves.
The TCC Volunteer Team hopes that through this guidance and companionship, the meaningful messages within these picture books will serve as a positive inspiration in the children's growth. Looking ahead, TCC will continue to visit local schools, actively fulfilling its corporate social responsibility to care for the community.
